Teen Food action
Teens tackling food waste and hunger one meal at a time
This venture project will help to eliminate the issue of food waste and hunger in the greater DC area by redirecting the leftover food from local grocery stores to high school cafeterias. High schools will offer an after-school volunteer program for students to earn community service hours by making meals with the leftover and salvaged food. The meals will then be transported to homeless shelters and served to those in need.
grocery storesGrocery stores and restaurants donate their leftover food that they can no longer sell and bring it to nearby participating schools.
